Paint your home with light.

Picture
Use Multiple Layers of Light.  This adds dimension to your room as well as giving you maximum flexibility with your lighting. Using a single chandelier in a dining room can become a glare-bomb when you have to use it at full intensity in order to see the food on the table or the faces of your guests.

Bathroom Lighting.
the best form of task lighting in a bathroom is located at the mirror at face level. Relying solely on recessed lighting in the bathroom creates harsh shadows on your face. (not the best way to start your day).

Recessed lighting. Can be a wonderful addition to your lighting plan, however if this is overused your rooms will feel harsh and cold instead of warm and inviting.
LED or light-emitting diodes are transforming the way we design lighting today. LED’s use solid state technology to convert electricity into light. LED lighting has become the energy solution for our time and is available for most lighting applications.

The challenge is not all LED light sources are created equal. This choice of lighting can also create challenges when it comes to selecting dimming sources.
Here is an area where the advice of a professional lighting designer is indeed a good move.

Decorative Light. Use decorative light sources as architectural jewelry for your home. A few carefully chosen table or floor lamps can add that additional ambiance as well as offering another layer of light.

Improper Lighting. Improper lighting, producing glare and shadows, is hard on the eyes, creating fatigue and discomfort. It can also be dangerous, if obstructions and uneven surfaces aren’t clearly illuminated.

Kitchen Lighting. Kitchens are no longer simply used for food preparation. They have become the hub of the home. The lighting should consist of comfortable, functional task, ambient and accent lighting that can be dimmed to create several different environments within the room.

The Lighting Designer. Using a qualified lighting designer to help you paint your home with light will repay you in tremendous dividends both while you are living there and at the time of sale.
